Chicago Commercial Food Photography

It's fall, which means baseball and candy corn. Here is a shot from the archives we did a few years back. We are back in Chicago this week for another shoot, this time sculptures of raw meat. We are really digging this new city and can't wait to keep the momentum going. Stay tuned for our open house announcement.

Chicago Commercial Photography

The last few weeks have been a blur between jobs, meetings, and traveling back and forth between our Chicago and St. Louis studios. It has been a blast meeting and working with such creative people and we are very fortunate to be producing work for such awesome clients. We are really looking forward to next week, which is full of portfolio work, editing video, and planning the next few months including our open house in Chicago next month.

Duratrans Lighting | Chicago Commercial Photography

One of the trickiest parts of shooting liquids and glass is background lighting. Many images, especially people, are cut out and put onto new backgrounds to create an amazing composite image. With glass, this is much trickier because the background light shines through the glass, which is clear. If this bottle was shot on a white background, it could take a long long time to blend in the background colors into the bottle. By printing your general background, as seen above, and shooting light through the "Duratrans", it really helps sell the shot if the bottle or glasses need to be layer masked into a different exposure. You can easily shoot each glass above and have the necessary information from the background inside the glass already, saving you a ton of time in post.

Black Magic vs Canon 5D MK III

For all of you out there wondering which motion camera to buy (us included), I think this comparison seals the deal and changes the industry, again. Really amazing stuff at a really accessible price.

Day 1 New Studio | Chicago Commercial Photography

Day one morning at the new Chicago studio and we're super excited to have Kraft as our first client for the next 3 days. We are pumped to be off and running and simply love this city. We've made this studio our own over the past few months, knocking down walls, building floors, painting, and hauling up furniture from St. Louis. We just snapped this photo via Apple's new iOS 6 panorama feature, which allows us to quickly crop together panoramas and put up a blog post in 10 minutes or less. Considerably good for a phone.
