commercial cocktail photography | rob grimm

Last week we put the last few coats of paint on the new Chicago studio and are in the final stages of interior design. After a full day of painting, a local suggested we visit The Violet Hour after dinner at Sushi Samba for hand crafted cocktails. While I must say the fare at Sushi Samba was some of the best sushi I have had, the cocktails at The Violet Hour were exceptional. As we enter the Chicago area, we are thrilled by the plethora of choices when it comes to places to both chow and toast.

As a fan of Gin, I ordered the "Old & Young," Ransom Old Tom, Lemon, Ramazotti, Blackberry, Cola. The drink was extremely well balanced and refreshing while enticed me for a couple more rounds.

Here's an old favorite Gin photo i shot from a few years back that reminded me how great Gin can be.

Behind the scenes | Chicago Commercial Photographer

Who doesn't appreciate working outdoors? We recently had two long 18-hour days in 110+ degree dry weather. The above shot is from a recent still and motion shoot we did for Klipsch, a major headphone manufacturer. Rob is working the 7D on a cinevate slider. Our assignment was to capture both still and motion from each of the four athletes in four different locations spread across Missouri. We had the challenge of shooting BMX, mountain biking, skateboarding, and conditioning in 48 hours. From Farmington, to Silver Springs, and back up to downtown St. Louis, we had a blast hustling across the state and setting a mobile studio at each location. We amassed hundreds of gigs of data and managed not to break anything. Big shout out to Blaine Deutsch, the producer of the shoot for keeping the ball rolling.  The shoot was a huge success. Looking forward to more shoots like this in the future.

that's a wrap | chicago & st. louis commercial photography

A few weeks back we wrapped our second two day shoot for Klipsch through the creative people over at Kuhl Swaine. The above image was a great ending to a fantastic way to spend two days, collaborating with creative people on a penthouse balcony. Both shoots were fast paced, required a lot of gear, and half of it was scheduled outside in record breaking temperatures. A big thanks to everyone who helped make these shoots happen. Stay tuned for behind the scenes footage.

Opening our second commercial production studio in chicago

Last Thursday the moving van was loaded up with equipment, furnishings and tons of our gadgets for the Chicago studio. The move went surprisingly well; especially considering we hired Chicago movers from some guy name Mel we found on Craigslist. It was dicey but effective, and they did a good job. Staying true to my nickname of being the, "perpetually dissatisfied anal retentive perfectionist," I decided the space just was not right. So we put things in closets and other things under wraps, called a guy who knows a guy to come in and do some additional demo. In short order they are making the modifications to our new Chicago digs. We head back up in another week to put the place together. Needless to say, we are very excited to have the new studio in Chicago.
